Ecuador is a country located to the northwest and adjacent to the western coast of South America, the continental territory adjoins with the one of Colombia by the north, and with Peru to the south and the east, besides it has coast to the west in the Pacific Ocean.
Its surface of 256,370 kilometers square, here are included the Galápagos Islands, located to 956 kilometers of the continental territory. San Francisco of Quito is the capital of Ecuador. The main, more important city and with the greater number of inhabitants in the country is Santiago de Guayaquil. It is one of the ports more journeyed of South America and dominant motor of the Ecuadorian economy.
This country is divided administratively in 24 provinces and every province is continental except one which is formed exclusively by Galápagos Islands (although the provinces of the coast also have a good amount of islands bordering to the coastal line).
